Wii

The Wii takes a lot of flack for not being a hard core gaming machine. People should realize that the Wii isn’t trying to compete with the PS3 or Xbox…it’s a whole different gaming experience. The Wii is great when groups of people, guys and girls, need some entertainment. It’s easy to make drinking games out of the bowling, or relive your childhood days on the playground at school. The group of accessories are not comparable to any other system. How can you not love a system that allows you to fight with real light sabors, steer a wheel of a racecar, or swing a racquet? This is a must have system for those of you who have a man cave that also doubles as a family room–anyone of any age can find a game they like for the Wii.

ps3-slim

Believe it or not I am still asked this question. Since its release my answer has always been “yes”. With the new price drop , new restyling and some great games as of late there is no reason not to have one.  For any guy or gal that’s into sports games, this is without a doubt the right system for you. MLB The Show is the best baseball game I have played in the past few years. The PS3 also offers other awesome exclusive titles along with a vast selection of movies to rent or buy.

The Blu-Ray player is outstanding; the PlayStation store has really come on as of late and with constant updates it keeps the system fresh and enjoyable.  The system has come along way since it was released and it keeps getting better. Who cares if you have a xbox…you can enjoy both. For a quick comparison of the new PS3 slim AKA “PS3 120 GB” hit the read link…

logitech-harmony-890-advanced-universal-remote_743405

There is nothing worse than having to look for the remote to the cable box, or the one for the tv, or the one for the surround sound. I never really thought I needed a all-in-one remote. But after using this one I really don’t mind if my 2 year old hides the other remotes from me.

Now Logitech has made  a bunch of all-in-ones before. What makes the Logitech Harmony 890 Advanced Universal Remote Control different is how easy it is to setup up everything. Plus it looks cool. You can store up to 15 different devices on this remote. Personally I have every tv in my house programed in and I can go from one room to the next without looking for the remote. The remote can be updated with a connection to your computer via usb. You’ll never have to look for batteries the 890 offers a plug in charging station. This remote is one of the highest reviewed remotes on amazon. Its cool easy to setup and is Man Cave approved. Hit the link for more

 HTMarket

Amazon is my favorite place to buy electronics and other random things. Usually when I am shopping for, well, almost anything, I start out by going to Best Buy, HH Gregg or even Wal-Mart, and  then I come home and buy that item from Amazon at a much lower price most of the time. One of my other favorite web sites is htmarket.com. This website has given me some great ideas. They can be a bit pricey but often have great deals and great coupons sent to your email.

These two companies have everything that you can think of when making a Man Cave. HTmarket has great bundle deals that meet any budget.  An item to check out is the Buttkicker. It mounts inside your sofa or chair and gives you a different movie or gaming experience every time it hits. The Buttkicker starts out at about $430.  Still, I recommend searching for anything you consider buying on Amazon’s site first to find the best deal, but between these two web sites you can get plenty of ideas and in most cases save some money.

slingbox

The SlingBox is another one of those items that has been around for a while. I bought mine about 18 months ago and I don’t know what I would do without it. The SlingBox Solo is what I have.

Basically it’s pretty simple. You hook it up to your cable box then to your Internet. It turns any computer into your TV. If  I’m working out in the garage or sitting on the deck and I want to watch ESPN, I pull up my slingbox on my laptop and take it with me. Anywhere you can go and have access to a computer you can watch TV. They even offer a mobile version for blackberry and iPhone with an additional cost  $30.00. It’s a great gadget with a starting price of $150.00 for the Solo. It’s a must have.  (Picture above is the Slingbox PRO)

beer

How can it be two weeks into this website and we have not written one article about the nectar of gods? It dates back as far as 9000 B.C., and believe it or not, it wasn’t invented to help your father sleep with your mother no matter what he tells you. Ancient Egyptians made beer in a primitive form for use during a prayer to the goddess Ninkasi. Beer has seen a lot of changes since those days. In some cases it is still used in religious ceremonies, mostly on Saturdays in the fall (Go Bucks).

Flash forward to the late 1800’s and early 1900’s where prohibition swept parts of the country. Fortunately after the fugly women stopped getting laid, beer was welcomed back with open arms and a false since of reality. Large breweries popped up all over the country and big names in beer started to emerge. After micro-breweries like Sam Adams were started in the 1980’s, the idea of making your own beer spread to every jack-hole that thought he could make a little money. Do we really need a pomegranate beer?  Stop with the,”Hey dude, try my beer, I made it in my basement.”  We all have our favorites so there is no need to review specific beers on this web page, so raise your glass of your favorite beer and enjoy it in moderation.
