Onkyo makes some of the finest Home Theater Receivers around. They have models for all price ranges. The Onkyo 160 currently on Amazon is almost 370.00. That’s a great price for the sound and features that this system offers. If you are like me you bought your current receiver about 5 years ago and now with blu-ray coming around its time to update. If you do not have a ton of cash like me to spend on a receiver this is the one to buy. It offers 5 hdmi inputs, Dolby’s latest technology, Dolby® Pro Logic® IIz, which adds “front height” channels to bring a spacious new vertical dimension to the sound stage. Along with intelligent Audyssey equalization. The HT-RC160 gives you a ton of connectivity options, so you can incorporate HD Radio™, iPod®, and more. I took that from Amazon. Onkyo does offer a 180 model at almost double the price its worth it as well. I would recommend the 160 and if you have the money the 180. The system sounds great offers many features and the update in receivers your man cave needs. The Onkyo 160 gets 5 out of 5.

J&R Computer/Music World

Bose has always had a label of high price low quality. The current price for this system on Amazon is 999.00. I could set up a way better sounding system for 1k. But it would not offer the convenience that this system offers. The sound is pretty good for two speakers and a sub. At times you do feel like you are getting that 5.1 sound but other times it does come up short. Some of the new TVs coming out now are producing better sound then this system. The system is perfect for a living room or second entertainment area. I would how ever not recommend it your the man cave.

7.1surround

Have you ever been over to a buddies house and wondered how he has speakers half the size of yours yet it seems to sound 100 times better? It’s time to do something about it! It’s time to talk about how you can get the best sound for your Man Cave while still keeping within your budget.

The first thing you need is a surround sound system. Now for those of you that are new to the surround sound arena let me give you a few tips.

  1. You don’t need to buy the most expensive system to get great sound! (although it is good to have some high quality speakers.)
  2. Know what you want! Do you want Dolby Digital® 5.1, Dolby TrueHD® 7.1, or DTS®
  3. What is the size of your room? Do you know if you are going to go wireless or not? (this is technically one question. Based on the room size and shape you may opt to go wireless.)
  4. You need to know how much you can spend before going out and setting up a system. Do your research to know exactly how much it will cost for what you want so there are no surprises.
  5. Get ready to live!

Now that you have figured out exactly what you want how do you go about choosing? Well you could take your friend who has the great sounding surround already… Or you can jump online and see what others have gotten and how they rate the things in your price range. You will come to find out that like I said earlier, it’s not always how much you spend to get great surround. Ear Force

If you’re like me, you find yourself gaming all hours of the night. Whether you still live in your parent’s basement, or have a wife and kid, there are times you are just forced to play quietly. We all know that turning down the sound totally takes away from the whole gaming experience. That’s why I suggest trying the Ear Force X41 Digital RF Wireless Game Audio+ Chat with Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound.

Although the micophone isn’t the greatest, just like others on the market, the headphones make up for any shortcomings that would keep you from making the purchase. These headphones allow you to have the ultimate gaming experience without the rest of the neighborhood having to join in for the festivities.

These headphones are man cave, and wife, approved.
